Ladies hardwood aplenty, with a Mount Si girls’ win led by a performance worthy of an Athlete of the Week nod….plus those AotW’s for the week

CEDARCREST – This will be a shared recognition. Freshman Kat Townley scored 13 points and Rose Carlson added 10 for the Red Wolves in a win last Friday over Oak Harbor. Head coach Brad Knowles, in his game report, offered praise for both players, two of many who need to step up right now and are in the wake of what might be a season-ending knee injury for star Jaylin Yowell. Yowell was likely expected back perhaps as soon as this week from that injury which she suffered in an early season game with Snohomish, but she had a setback over winter break and now it’s not clear if she’ll make it back in time for the playoffs. Which means efforts such as Townley’s and Carlson’s become that much more important as the season heads on for CHS, and that season continues this week with more Wesco games. Tomorrow, they are at Everett, then they have back-to-back games Thursday at home with Stanwood and Friday they are at Marysville-Pilchuck.
